Conduct an Emissions Inventory
The Calculator's three modules have received high praise from higher education leaders like Mark Orlowski, founder of the Sustainable Endowments Institute, who says that "Clean Air-Cool Planet's free Campus Carbon Calculator has defined how universities track their carbon emissions." You can download the Campus Carbon Calculator™ for free below. Once institutions have evaluated their emissions sources, they are able to manage them effectively; having reported their emissions publicly, they are held accountable for them. We are making campus carbon management a part of "business-as-usual." The Campus Carbon Calculator™, Version 6.7, is now available for download. Version 6.7 includes new features, updates and corrections - including greatly expanded projection and solutions modules, designed to aid schools that have completed greenhouse gas inventories in developing long term, comprehensive climate action plans based on those inventories. The new modules facilitate analysis of carbon reduction options, determining project payback times, net present value, cost per ton reduced, and other relevant markers. This tool contains a Microsoft Excel file (a series of spreadsheets) and Microsoft Word file (a User's guide), and provides all of the technical information, the data input structure, and the calculations necessary to complete a campus emissions inventory. If you are currently using a previous version of the Calculator, you are encouraged to transfer your data to v6.7. The file contains small programs, or macros, to help copy your data from any previous versions starting with v6.0. Updating your file ensures you are using the most recent emissions factors and fixed formulas. In partnership with the Sierra Youth Coalition, we have also adapted the calculator for use in Canada. Be sure to download the correct version, as the Canadian version uses metric units of measurement. Please email us with any questions or concerns. |
